SCHOOL ATTENDANCE OF LEARNERS

It is the duty and responsibility of every parent to see that his/her child attends school regularly. Educators and parents should work together closely to stamp out unnecessary absenteeism and truancy.

Educators diligently keep track of absenteeism by completing a daily register.
If a child returns after being absent, she must produce a letter signed by the parent/guardian, explaining his/her absence. This letter is kept in a file together with a form filled in by the form teacher.
In the event of a learner being absent for three consecutive days without furnishing the school with reasons for the absence, the form teacher communicates with the parent telephonically.
If a learner is absent for 40 consecutive days without furnishing the school with reasons, he/she is excluded. Principal executes all exclusions.
All correspondence pertaining to absenteeism is in duplicate. (Class register and captured on the SMS)

LEAVE TAKING

Request for leave should be minimal. All requests for leave must be in writing. A letter requesting leave should be submitted to the form teacher during registration. The form teacher fills in the leave form and submits same to the grade co-ordinator for approval.
Should urgent leave be required, the parent should personally call at school explaining the circumstances for leave. The relevant form will be filled in and processed.
Should a learner fall ill or due to other circumstances need to leave school early, arrangements will be made telephonically with the parent.
In all instances, leave is recorded in the "Leave taking book".

N.B.
Proof of identification is required by any individual who comes to fetch a learner from school.
